A big “thank you” to all the community who could join us on Saturday 17th December to help us celebrate Christmas at the Shoreham CFA fire station. Approximately 250 Shoreham residents enjoyed some long hoped-for sunshine and a pleasant 19 degrees at the start of the night.
As we noted in an earlier post, Bendigo Bank (Balnarring branch) representative Michael Treadwell, made Shoreham Captain Tony Wain’s Christmas by presenting a cheque for $23,100. This is to be used to cover the costs to concrete the training area to accommodate the 15-tonne new Shoreham Tanker. The Shoreham Brigade appreciates the continued support from the Balnarring Bendigo Bank over the years.
(Another) Santa made a fleeting visit on the Shoreham Tanker to wish the community a Merry Christmas and to meet the children – handing out lolly bags before having to leave to continue getting ready for the big night the next week.
The spit roast, Webers and BBQ were busy most of the day cooking 10 kg of sausages and some 35 kg of meats. In addition, the brigade thanks the Auxiliary for organising the tables, arranging salads and desserts as well as ensuring Frankfurts, fairy bread and treats for the children’s table.
It was then time for the raffle to be drawn. Ticket sales was approximately $2,700 and we thank all who participated by buying tickets. We also thank our generous local donors for the prizes, these include Pt Leo Estate, Pier 10, Quealy Wines, Panton Wines, 87 Byrnes Road Accommodation and Red Hill Kitchen.
A special mention needs to go Gary Jones and the band who yet again, as they have for many years, made the night enjoyable providing the opportunity for all ages to join in singing listening or dancing to excellent music.
Again, the Shoreham CFA acknowledges the support and engagement of the local community, the brigade’s members and our Auxiliary. We were delighted to host so many for a good night out. We look forward to your on-going support and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
