With the arrival of Shoreham’s 4.4C Heavy Tanker, a new problem has arisen for the Shoreham CFA…
The new tanker has a Gross Vehicle Mass of 15 tonne – significantly over the old tanker which held only half the water load. The Shoreham training area, which includes the tank for the Brigade to practice its Draughting* procedures, is located behind the station with access being gravel on clay. With the recent weather patterns making the area considerably boggier than normal, access is no longer deemed suitable for the weight of the new tanker.
The solution is to extend the reinforced concrete apron down the side of the station to allow better access. The costs have come in at $23,100.
Once again Bendigo Bank Balnarring has come to the aid of the Shoreham Brigade: our feature picture shows Michael Treadwell (R) from Bendigo Bank presenting Shoreham Captain Tony Wain (L) with a cheque for $23,100 at our 2022 annual community Christmas BBQ.
Balnarring Bendigo Bank also provided $10,000 towards the Shoreham Ultra- light Vehicle several years ago.
Shoreham Brigade is very grateful for the ongoing support provided by the Bendigo Bank to the Shoreham Brigade and to our community.
* Draughting is a process where we pump water from creek, dams or tanks to fill the tanker or to directly fight fires. It is particularly useful where there is not a reticulated water supply close at hand.
