The Shoreham Brigade is always looking to increase its membership to ensure we continue to meet each and every request for our Brigade to attend a fire, accident, rescue etc.
The Brigade is also dependent on non-operational volunteers to assist with maintenance, fundraising, joining? the Auxiliary etc.

Operational Volunteer Training Requirements
Up to 1998 when the Linton Fires occurred, volunteers could jump on the back of the truck and go off and fight fires with no training.
At Linton, sadly five firefighters were killed, and the CFA has subsequently put great focus on ensuring all its firefighters are competently trained to undertake any task expected.
General Fire Fighter training
The entry level training to attend a fire is General Fire Fighter training. This is usually run over 6 Sundays – each between 3 -4 hours duration. The training includes theory and practical education with assessments. In addition, brigade level familiarisation and drills with the equipment at the station also need to be completed as part of the course.
CFA training is done to a national standard. The same standards apply to Metropolitan (FRB) and CFA brigades.
Other training
A range of additional courses are available to assist volunteers gain competencies to support them in increasingly diverse situations as their experience and involvement grows. The courses are a combination of online and face-to-face training.
Non Operational Volunteer Training Requirements
Non-operational volunteers generally do not require specific training depending on their role(s). However, a wide variety of courses is available for those who are interested.
