After 31 years of service the old Shoreham Tanker (2000 litres) has been decommissioned and a brand-new dual cab tanker has been provided by the CFA to the Shoreham Brigade.

The new Shoreham Tanker went into service on the 16th September, 2022. This new tanker has double the water capacity, better pumping capacity and greater engine power – all will allow for better efficiency in our response, particularly in areas with no reticulated water supply.

The new tanker holds 4000 litres of water; also features a 750-litre emergency water tank and a 1200-litre-a-minute pump.   It is fitted with roll-over protection, as well as ABS brakes, water-cooled diesel pump engine for quieter operation and built to Euro 5 emission standards for reduced environmental impact.

All members can now travel  inside the cab which improves safety in driving and firefighting situations. The trucks feature a front-mounted water monitor, giving firefighters better ability to combat grass and other fires.

The Brigade has undertaken driver training in the new tanker under CFA trainer supervision and assessment.  The training and familiarisation of the tanker began over a month before it was put into operation.

This is a wonderful addition to Shoreham Brigade and the surrounding district.
