It is with deep sadness that the Shoreham Fire Brigade announces the passing of our much-loved member, mentor and friend, Roderick McKillop.
Roderick served our community with dedication and pride for 36 years, including eight years as a Lieutenant, turning out to all types of fires and incidents at all hours of the day and night. He was always ready to put others first and was very often available for strike team duty, representing our brigade with professionalism and heart wherever he went.
Roderick was a mentor to so many within our ranks — always generous with his time, his knowledge and his guidance. His impact on this brigade and on each of us personally will never be forgotten.
In recognition of his extraordinary service, Roderick was made a life member of the Shoreham Brigade in 2022.
And, of course, Roderick will forever be remembered as the best lawn keeper in all of Shoreham, faithfully manning Shoreham Tanker 3 (the ride-on mower) more often than anyone else — a role he took great pride in.
Our thoughts are with Rod’s family, friends and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time. He leaves behind a legacy of service, friendship and commitment that will live on within Shoreham Fire Brigade always.
