Peter Paterson was born in 1916 in Boort, Victoria. He spent many years as a rural worker and as such became involved in rural fire brigade activities. He joined the Metropolitan Fire Brigade around 1938 and remained with them until about 1946.

Peter then returned to country Victoria as a farm manager at various locations. Although involvement in rural fire brigade activities was a part of his farm management duties, it also was an interest of his.  This interest resulted in Peter becoming active in local CFA units.

In 1955, Peter joined the Shoreham CFA and progressed to the position of Captain.

Peter maintained an acute interest in CFA activities until his death in 1968.

Peter played football for Essendon in the Victorian Football League between 1938 and 1946. He was also keenly involved in local football and cricket activities in those areas in which he lived.

Peter is survived by Phyllis (since deceased) and daughters Patricia and Kerry.
