Shoreham Brigade is pleased to welcome Joel Kuperholz and Michael Stowers as our latest Firefighters. Both visited the station on Friday, 23 January to chat about what was involved in becoming a volunteer firefighter.
They both went home, registered and have worked very hard to achieve Firefighter status – completing all the theory and practical components in just 7 weeks !
Both completed their practical skills assessment as the final step on Friday, 6th March.
This brings our number of operational firefighters to 17 – a great boost to assist us attending incidents within our Shoreham/Point Leo area as well as assisting neighbouring brigades. It also enables us to continue to support fighting fires around the state – as and when our colleagues need us.
Last Summer, our members have supported fires at Longwood, Alexandra, Yaark and Dargo on six occasions.
However, we are volunteers and routinely required to cover a range of incidents 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. So, if you are a Shoreham resident and can help cover during the day, or the night, or over weekends – every volunteer counts !
